Stay Connected With the Iowa Bicycle Coalition Resources

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is in the forefront with resources available to all cyclists. Their comprehensive website contains a “Cycling Resources” dropdown box. Several links show the wide range of information available to all. From Iowa Bicycle Laws to local city bicycle laws, from paper to online state bike maps, from bicycle clubs and teams, users can discover a wide range of resources. Of course, the heart of what keeps us on the road is an extensive list of Coalition member bicycle stores, shops, and services. Under the “Guides” link, readers can find a vast number of guides on safety, Iowa bike laws, Ride Right initiative for road biking, mountain biking in Iowa, bike theft, and winter biking in Iowa. Their “Events” links highlight the numerous rides the Coalition sponsors yearly. The “advocacy” link is the true heart of the Coalition’s work with ten areas they focus on for safer riding, legislative lobbying, the Safe Routes to School Initiative for walkers and bikers, and the Iowa Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, a recently updated long range master plan from the Iowa Department of Transportation. Under the direction of Executive Director Luke Hoffman and his predecessor Mark Wyatt, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition website is truly a treasure trove for information and advocacy that we are lucky to have available.
