Dubuque Parks and Recreation Masterplan Draft is here. Please comment before January 5th.

The long-awaited Dubuque Parks and Recreation Masterplan Draft is here. The City Council held a work session last Monday evening to review the highlights. The Masterplan consultants, Kimley-Horn Consulting, and new Parks Director Matt Kalcevich presented the plan and answers council members questions. The 333-page document holds a myriad of statistics and details from city staff. Over 35,000 interactions occurred with people participating in surveys, in-person interviews, or pop-up events, an amazing number considering the city’s population is 60,000!

City staff is asking for public comments by January 5th. For the Cliffs Notes version: Trail and open space/natural resource recommendations - pp. 36-40. High Priority Capital Needs - p. 51. Individual park recommendations pp. 52-60.  In-depth trail definitions and descriptions - pp 271-284. Proposed trails - 285-286. And yes, they are revising the parks map on p. 142 with mixed up names.
